Description : The yellow pansy is bright yellow on the upperside and pale yellow on the underside. On the upperside, the forewings are black on the anterior and posterior edges, and may bear a small blue spot. The upperside of the hindwing has a wide blue spot on its basal area.Underside of the wings contains some brown irregular zigzag lines.Female butterfly has the base color duller in comparison to that of male.Both wings have a blue centered ocelli with a pale subterminal line.Underside of wings is mostly brown or organge, with different types of brown in an zig zag pattern. The female shows more conspicuous markings than the male.
