Description : The Common Crane is a big bird with a long neck and legs (adult bird length approximately 115 cm, weight 5 kg, wing 55 cm, bill 11 cm, tarsus 24 cm, tail 20 cm). It looks greyish overall with a black head, upperneck and a red patch on the crown. It feeds on shoots, tubers, grains, insects and small reptiles. Courtship display includes an elaborate dance sequence and trumpeting duets.
